  • INVESTMENTS COMMITTEE

How can an interested person help the Investments Committee, if the individual does not know anything about investing?

  • The beauty of the Investments Committee is that it offers Georgia Tech Students the opportunity to invest funds and make stock recommendations with a real portfolio. Many individuals join without investing knowledge and develop sharpened skills with investing. How is this possible? For one, the Investments Committee offers a mentor Program, which is a six-week long course that is offered two different times once a week for Georgia Tech Students. The mentor program which is offered during both Fall and Spring semesters, provides a minimum education in investing and the stock market, which serves as a platform for future development. Come join the many students who take advantage of this great experience today!

  • How does the Investments Committee decide on which stocks to buy?

  • The Investments Committee watches the market and makes predictions on trends. Through a top-down approach, committee members make stock presentations and recommendations to the committee. The Investments Decision Group, IDG, reviews such recommendations and make decisions on future stock purchases and sells. Through a diversified portfolio and the hard work of committee members, the Investments Committee has continuously outperformed the S&P 500.

  • ALLOCATIONS COMMITTEE

How can GTSF allocate so much every semester?

  • The Georgia Tech Student Foundation was started in 1986 with a $100,000 gift from an alumnus named J. Erskine Love Jr.. An endowment was set up, in which the Investments Committee runs and oversees its performance in the stock market. The Allocations Committee uses the profit from the endowment's performance in the market to fund new organizations and new student initiatives on campus. Through further contributions from fellow students, the endowment is continually growing, allowing more funds to be allocated to Georgia Tech students and student organizations every semester!

  • Who receives funding from the Allocations Committee?

  • The Allocations Committee looks for students or student organizations who want to start new organizations or have new ideas to benefit campus. These organizations vary in both description and size. Georgia Tech Student Foundation allocates to many students across camps such as sports clubs, cultural programs, honorary organizations, and philanthropic initiatives. It is important to note that GTSF differs from SGA in that it does not provide annual budgets.

  • How can I join the Allocations Committee?

  • The Allocations Committee is an internal committee. Members from the Development Committee and Investments Committee, along with Board of trustee members are appointed to be members of the Allocations Committee.
